Tree of Life Selenite Charging Plate

The Tree of Life Selenite Charging Plate is a flat disc of natural gypsum engraved with the Tree of Life — the old symbol of growth, connection and balance. Its job is simple: it is the surface you rest your other crystals on. Selenite is the one stone crystal practice treats as self-cleansing, which is why it has become the standard tool for clearing everything else.

Benefits

• One surface for the whole collection. Bracelets, tumbles, pendants and rings all go on at once — a flat plate does what a tower or pyramid cannot.
• It never needs charging itself. No moonlight, no sunlight, no salt, no rice. Keep it dry and it keeps working.
• The engraving is the point. A plain disc gets put in a drawer. This one earns a place on the shelf.
• It travels well between rooms. Altar, desk, bedside — it is light and flat enough to move.
• No two are identical. Silky striations run differently through every piece of gypsum.
• A ritual, not a promise. The cleansing associations come from tradition, not from a measured property.

How to use it

Lay your crystals on the plate for a few hours, or overnight if that fits your routine better. Bracelets can sit on it while you sleep and go back on your wrist in the morning — that is the most common way people use one.

Keep the plate itself somewhere you pass regularly: a work desk, an altar, a bedside table. It works as a small tray for jewellery you take off at the end of the day.

Our full guide on how to use a selenite charging plate walks through the routine in more detail. You can also browse Calminds Selenite Plates to compare other charging-plate designs. If you would rather have an upright focal piece than a flat surface, the selenite crystal pyramid is the other shape people choose.

What it is made of

Selenite is a crystalline form of gypsum — hydrated calcium sulfate, CaSO₄·2H₂O. It sits at Mohs 2, the softest stone commonly sold for décor or jewellery. Your fingernail is harder, at about 2.5, so you can mark it yourself. Everything in the care section below follows from that.

And the thing most sellers leave out: almost everything sold as “selenite” — plates, towers, lamps, pyramids — is satin spar, the fibrous milky-white form of gypsum. True selenite forms transparent bladed crystals and splinters if you try to cut it into a disc. Both are the same mineral and neither is fake; we simply think you should know which one you are buying. The distinction is explained fully in our article on selenite bracelet benefits.

Care — please read this one

Never let it touch water. This is stricter than ordinary crystal advice. Gypsum genuinely dissolves in water, and hot or slightly acidic water speeds it up. Do not wash it, do not wipe it with a damp cloth, and never keep it in a bathroom or on a wet surface.

Dust it dry with a soft cloth. One practical caution worth knowing: most of the stones you will place on this plate — quartz, tiger eye, amethyst, tourmaline — are far harder than it is, so set them down gently rather than sliding them around, or they will scratch the surface over time. It also has perfect cleavage in one direction, so a sharp knock can split it cleanly.

What this is, and what it isn’t

Selenite’s cleansing associations come from crystal tradition, not from any measured property of gypsum. There is no peer-reviewed evidence that a plate clears negativity from another stone, and nothing here diagnoses, treats, cures or prevents any medical condition. What it honestly gives you is a small nightly ritual and a proper place to put your jewellery — which is worth something on its own.
