Selenite Plate
Charging plates and trays cut from natural selenite — round plates, the Tree of Life design, and chakra-inlaid plates.
About the stone
Selenite is a crystalline form of gypsum — calcium sulphate dihydrate. It is soft, 2 on the Mohs scale, and it is genuinely translucent: hold a thin plate to a light and it glows right through, which is where the old trade name “liquid light” came from. The name selenite itself comes from Selene, the Greek moon goddess, for the same reason.
What people use a plate for
This is the traditional place to keep other stones. In crystal practice selenite is the one stone used on other stones rather than on its own, so a plate is where a collection lives — bracelets at the end of the day, tumbles, rings, small carved pieces. People leave things on it overnight as a ritual of putting the day down.
That is a tradition and a habit, and a good one. It is not a mechanism: nothing is being recharged in any measurable sense. What a plate genuinely gives you is one designated place where your stones live instead of scattered across a dressing table, which is worth having on its own.
Care — the one rule
Selenite dissolves in water. Not eventually, not with soaking — it goes cloudy and pitted with any real contact. Never wash a plate, never leave it in a bathroom or anywhere humid, and never rest a wet bracelet on it. Dust it with a soft dry cloth or brush. It is also soft enough to be scratched by almost anything you put on it, so expect a plate in daily use to develop marks.
What this is, and what it isn't
Selenite is a soft crystalline gypsum. Crystals have a long place in tradition and in ritual practice, and that is the spirit in which we sell them at Calminds. There is no peer-reviewed evidence that any stone cleanses, charges or purifies another object, removes negative energy, treats a medical condition, or alters the physical energy of a room. Nothing on this page is medical or psychological advice.
