Selenite is a crystallised form of gypsum — calcium sulphate with water built into its structure. It is exceptionally soft at Mohs 2, softer than a fingernail is hard. It is very light for its size, splits into thin sheets, and a fingernail will mark it. Anything that resists a fingernail is not selenite.

How should I look after this bracelet? +

This is the important one: water dissolves selenite. Never wash it, never soak it, never leave it anywhere damp, and never use it in a bathroom. Dust it with a dry cloth only. It also scratches if stacked with harder stones. On a stretch bracelet the elastic is what fails first, not the stone, so roll it on and off rather than stretching it wide, and take it off before showering.
