What this collection actually is

The name is a traditional association and nothing more, and we would rather say that on the page than in the small print. Citrine is called the merchant's stone; pyrite is Fool's Gold and has been kept near money for centuries because it looks like the real thing; green aventurine carries an association with luck. Those traditions are genuine and old. They are not a mechanism, and no stone has ever changed anyone's finances.

What a piece on a desk does do is stay in your eyeline. People find a visible object useful as a reminder of something they have decided — to make the call, to send the invoice, to hold the price. That is a real effect, it comes entirely from you, and it is a better reason to buy one than anything we could claim about the mineral.

Placement, as tradition has it

In Feng Shui the southeast corner is the one traditionally associated with wealth. In Vastu the north is the direction associated with career. Both are placement conventions from long-standing systems, and people who follow those systems place accordingly. We are describing the convention, not endorsing an effect.

Choosing from it

For a desk or cash counter: a tree or pyramid, where it stays visible. To wear: a bracelet — bead size is on each product page. As a gift for someone starting a business, pyrite and citrine are the two most recognised.

Care

Pyrite is the one to watch — it is iron sulphide and it tarnishes and decays with moisture, so keep it dry and off a bathroom shelf. Citrine fades in prolonged sunlight. Each product page carries its own care note.
