Know More About This Product

Description

A tea light holder in natural lapis lazuli chips set in orgonite resin — deep blue with the gold pyrite flecking the stone is known for. A common choice for Diwali pooja, a meditation corner, or a festival gift.

Available at Calminds.

About the stone

Lapis lazuli is a rock rather than one mineral: the blue is lazurite, the gold flecks are pyrite (not gold), and the white veining is calcite. Most of the world's finest lapis comes from Badakhshan in Afghanistan, worked for roughly six thousand years, and ground lapis was the source of ultramarine — the most expensive pigment in Renaissance painting.

The tradition

  • Traditionally associated with study, speech and the throat centre
  • Traditionally used in meditation and ritual practice
  • A warm, deep blue glow when lit — which is the real reason people buy it

How to Use

Light a standard tea light in the holder. Let it cool fully before moving it and set it on a heat-tolerant surface. Never leave a lit candle unattended.

Product Details

  • Size: Height 2.7 cm, Width 6.2 cm (each)
  • Weight: Approx. 80 grams (each)
  • Material: Lapis lazuli chips in orgonite resin

Care

Wipe out cooled wax with a dry cloth rather than washing — the calcite in lapis is soft and reacts to acids, and solvents haze cured resin permanently.

Packaging

Comes in premium box packaging with a S.P.A.C.E. process card included.

What this is, and what it isn't

Lapis lazuli is a natural rock, set here in resin. Crystals have a long place in tradition and in ritual practice, and that is the spirit in which we sell them. There is no peer-reviewed evidence that any stone encourages wisdom, truth or inner peace, or treats any condition. Nothing here is medical advice.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this real lapis lazuli, and how can I tell? +

Lapis lazuli is not a single mineral but a rock. The blue comes from lazurite, the white marbling is calcite, and the gold flecks people take for gold are pyrite. The classic source is Sar-e-Sang in Badakhshan, Afghanistan, worked for over six thousand years. Real lapis shows uneven blue with some calcite and scattered pyrite. Dyed jasper sold as 'Swiss lapis', dyed howlite and reconstituted lapis pressed from powder are all common.

How should I look after this holder? +

It is soft — Mohs 5 to 5.5 — and the calcite in it reacts badly to water and acids. Keep perfume and cleaning products away, and never wash it. Heat and stone are a poor combination: let the holder cool fully before moving it, and use a tealight in a metal cup so wax does not soak into the stone.

Does this holder improve communication or wisdom? +

No. Lapis lazuli is traditionally associated with that, and the tradition is genuine and often very old, but there is no scientific evidence that any stone can improve communication or wisdom, or that it produces any physical or psychological effect. Nothing here is medical, psychological or financial advice. What it honestly does is remind you of something you decided yourself.
