Red jasper is an opaque chalcedony coloured by iron oxide — the same family as carnelian and agate, but fully opaque rather than translucent. Mohs 6.5 to 7. It should be completely opaque even against a bright light, with a smooth, even matt-to-glassy polish.

How should I look after this rakhi? +

Hard and forgiving. Dust dry; avoid harsh chemical cleaners. Keep it out of water, take it off before bathing, and store it in its box between wears rather than loose in a drawer.

Does this rakhi ground you or protect you? +

No. Red jasper is traditionally associated with that, and the tradition is genuine and often very old, but there is no scientific evidence that any stone can ground you or protect you, or that it produces any physical or psychological effect.
