Which stones are in this rakhi, and are they real?
Moonstone is a feldspar whose glow comes from structure rather than colour: two feldspars separated into alternating microscopic layers as the crystal cooled, and light scattering between those layers produces a sheen that seems to float below the surface. Amethyst is quartz — silicon dioxide — coloured violet by traces of iron combined with natural irradiation over geological time. All are natural stone rather than glass or dyed substitutes, and because they are natural the colour and pattern vary from piece to piece.
How should I look after a multi-stone rakhi?
Treat the whole piece as being as delicate as its most fragile stone, which here is moonstone. Moonstone is Mohs 6 to 6.5 with cleavage planes, so it chips more easily than quartz. Set it down rather than dropping it, and keep it away from ultrasonic cleaners. Keep it out of water, take it off before bathing, and store it in its box between wears rather than loose in a drawer.
Does this rakhi balance emotions or hormones?
No. These stones carry traditional associations, and those traditions are genuine and often very old, but there is no scientific evidence that any stone can balance emotions or hormones, or that it produces any physical or psychological effect.
