What this is, and what it isn't
The mineral. Green Aventurine is quartz (SiO2) at Mohs 6.5–7. Both its green colour and its faint internal glitter come from the same source: flakes of fuchsite, a chromium-bearing mica, scattered through the stone. That glitter has a name — aventurescence — and it is why the chips on these branches catch the light as you pass them. The chips are tumbled rather than cut, so no two are alike; slight differences in shade from branch to branch are natural.
Care. Dust with a soft dry cloth and keep it out of long direct sunlight — fuchsite's chromium colour can pale with sustained UV exposure. The wire branches will hold whatever shape you bend them into, so a tree that arrives compressed for shipping can be opened out by hand.
The tradition. Green Aventurine is the "Stone of Opportunity" in crystal practice, associated with growth, luck and heart-centred calm; the tree form and the Southeast placement come from Feng Shui and Vastu. These are traditional and spiritual frameworks — they are not measured properties of the quartz, and we say so deliberately rather than blurring the line.
The evidence. There is no peer-reviewed scientific evidence that crystals cleanse energy, emit vibrations, attract luck or wealth, or produce physical or psychological effects. What an object like this honestly does is act on a room and on attention: a deliberate, handsome thing on a desk that stands for something you are working towards, every time you look up at it. That is real, and it does not need overstating.
Please note. Nothing on this page is financial, medical or psychological advice. This tree is a decorative and symbolic object — not an investment, an income strategy, or a treatment for any condition.
Frequently asked questions
How can I tell the chips are real green aventurine and not dyed quartz or glass?
Tilt the tree under a lamp and watch the surface of the chips. Real green aventurine throws tiny points of glitter as the light moves across it — that is aventurescence, caused by flakes of fuchsite mica inside the stone. Dyed green quartz and green glass look flat and evenly coloured at every angle, and glass often shows rounded bubbles rather than mineral inclusions.
Can I wash the tree or rinse it under water?
No. This is a wire-and-glue tree: the chips are wrapped onto wire branches and the trunk is set into the base with adhesive. Water works into the wraps and the base adhesive and loosens them, and the damage is usually not reversible. Dust it dry with a soft cloth or a clean makeup brush instead.
Where should I place it?
In Vastu and Feng Shui practice the Southeast corner of a room or home is the usual choice, and a work desk or study table is the other common one. Practically, choose somewhere you actually look at during the day and away from long hours of direct sunlight, since sustained UV can pale the green over time.
Does it need cleansing or charging, and how often?
There is no scientific basis for a crystal holding or losing charge, so treat this as an optional part of the practice rather than maintenance the object requires. If you follow the tradition, a few hours of indirect moonlight or a smoke cleanse once a month is what most people do. Do not soak it in water or salt water — that will damage the wire and glue.
Will the branches arrive bent, and can I reshape them?
Trees are compressed slightly for safe shipping, so the branches often arrive drawn together. The wire holds whatever shape you give it, so open the branches out gently by hand into a rounded canopy. Bend from the base of each branch rather than pulling on the chips.
Is this a good gift, and for what occasion?
It is one of the most-gifted pieces we sell — housewarmings, new offices and shop openings, Diwali, and new-job or new-venture congratulations, because green aventurine is traditionally the stone of growth and opportunity. It ships in a premium box with an explainer card, so it needs no extra wrapping. It is a decorative and symbolic gift, not a lucky charm with any promised outcome.
