The Turquoise Thread Bracelet from Calminds is a simple, adjustable bracelet with natural turquoise crystal chips — for people who want something meaningful without the weight of a beaded design.

In Vedic tradition, turquoise is associated with Brihaspati (Jupiter) and with wisdom and clear speaking, and in crystal practice with the Throat Chakra (Vishuddha). These are traditional associations rather than measured properties of the stone.

Which Hand to Wear

Is this real turquoise, and how can I tell? +

Turquoise is a hydrated copper aluminium phosphate, Mohs 5 to 6, formed where water has percolated through copper-rich rock over a long time. Genuine turquoise shows uneven colour and usually a matrix of host rock. A perfectly even sky blue at a low price is very often dyed howlite or dyed magnesite. Most turquoise in the trade is stabilised — impregnated with resin to harden it and hold its colour. This is normal and legitimate, and worth knowing about.

How should I look after this bracelet? +

It is porous and comparatively soft. Oils, perfume, sanitiser and even sustained skin contact can change its colour over time, and heat and sun can fade it. Take it off before washing. On a stretch bracelet the elastic is what fails first, not the stone, so roll it on and off rather than stretching it wide, and take it off before showering.

Does this bracelet protect the wearer or aid communication? +

No. Turquoise is traditionally associated with that, and the tradition is genuine and often very old, but there is no scientific evidence that any stone can protect the wearer or aid communication, or that it produces any physical or psychological effect.
