Is this real malachite, and how can I tell?
Malachite is a copper carbonate mineral, and its green banding is the record of how it grew in layers around a cavity. Mohs 3.5 to 4 — soft. Real malachite has irregular, never-repeating banding and is noticeably heavy for its size. Moulded resin imitations repeat their pattern and feel light.
How should I look after this bracelet?
This one needs care. It is soft enough to scratch easily, and being a carbonate it reacts to acids — vinegar, lemon, and many household cleaners will etch the surface. Keep it dry, never soak it, and store it away from harder stones. On a stretch bracelet the elastic is what fails first, not the stone, so roll it on and off rather than stretching it wide, and take it off before showering.
