Sacred Glow Rakhi – Sunstone, Smoky Quartz & Om Charm

Smoky quartz is quartz whose brown-to-grey colour comes from natural irradiation acting on trace aluminium in the crystal. Sunstone is a feldspar containing tiny platelets of hematite or copper that catch light and throw a metallic glitter — the same family of optical effect as aventurescence. All are natural stone rather than glass or dyed substitutes, and because they are natural the colour and pattern vary from piece to piece.

Treat the whole piece as being as delicate as its most fragile stone, which here is sunstone. Mohs 6 to 6.5 with cleavage, so avoid knocks. Keep it out of long, harsh sun. Keep it out of water, take it off before bathing, and store it in its box between wears rather than loose in a drawer.
