Is this real peacock ore, and how can I tell? +

Peacock ore is usually chalcopyrite — a copper iron sulphide — whose brilliant blue and purple iridescence is a surface tarnish layer rather than the colour of the mineral itself. Break or chip a piece and the interior is plain brassy yellow, not rainbow-coloured. That is the giveaway that the colour is a surface effect. Most peacock ore sold worldwide has been acid-treated to produce that iridescence. Naturally iridescent bornite exists but is far less common, and we would rather tell you which you are looking at than let the name do the work.

How should I look after this wand? +

The iridescent layer is only on the surface and rubs off with handling and polishing, so handle it as little as possible and never scrub it. Keep it dry. Long thin pieces snap across the middle if flexed or dropped. Store it lying flat and supported, not standing in a pot.

Does this wand bring joy or remove negativity? +

No. Peacock ore is traditionally associated with that, and the tradition is genuine and often very old, but there is no scientific evidence that any stone can bring joy or remove negativity, or that it produces any physical or psychological effect.
