What this is, and what it isn't
The mineral. Lepidolite is a lithium-bearing mica, and the pink-to-lilac colour comes from manganese. At Mohs 2.5–3 it is very soft and splits into thin sheets along one plane, which is why slab beads suit it and why it must be kept away from knocks, water, perfume and sanitiser.
One point worth being precise about. Lepidolite is often marketed on the basis that lithium is used in psychiatric medicine. The lithium in lepidolite is chemically locked into the mica's crystal lattice as an aluminosilicate. It is not bioavailable, it cannot be absorbed through skin, and wearing the stone delivers no lithium to your body in any form or amount. Anyone who tells you otherwise is mistaken. We would rather you heard that from us.
The tradition. In crystal practice Lepidolite is the "Stone of Transition" — associated with calm, emotional release and steadiness through change, and linked to the Heart and Crown chakras. Those associations come from tradition and spiritual practice, not from any measured property of the mineral, and the chakra system is a spiritual framework rather than a scientific one.
The evidence. There is no peer-reviewed scientific evidence that crystals produce physical or psychological effects. Where people find value it comes from the practice — setting an intention, and carrying a reminder to slow down — rather than from the stone.
