Clear quartz and amethyst are quartz at Mohs 7; amazonite is a feldspar at Mohs 6–6.5 and chips more easily. Amethyst's colour fades in long sunlight. How should I look after a multi-stone bracelet? +

Keep it out of a sunny window and never 'charge' it in direct sun. Heat does the same thing — sustained heat turns amethyst gold, which is how most commercial citrine is made. On a stretch bracelet the elastic is what fails first, not the stone, so roll it on and off rather than stretching it wide, and take it off before showering.
