Is this real azurite, and how can I tell?
Azurite is a copper carbonate, and it is chemically unstable over long periods: it slowly alters into malachite, which is why azurite specimens often carry green patches. Medieval paintings show the same transformation in their blue pigments. Mohs 3.5 to 4. The deep blue with green alteration patches is characteristic and cannot easily be faked.
How should I look after this bracelet?
Soft and acid-sensitive. Keep it dry, out of sunlight, which can dull the blue, and away from cleaners. On a stretch bracelet the elastic is what fails first, not the stone, so roll it on and off rather than stretching it wide, and take it off before showering.
Does this bracelet aid insight or intuition?
