Is this real green aventurine, and how can I tell? +

Green aventurine is quartz, usually a quartzite, carrying flat platelets of fuchsite — a chromium-rich mica. The chromium gives the green; the platelets give the faint glitter, an effect called aventurescence. Mohs 6.5 to 7. Real aventurine glitters unevenly and only from some angles. Aventurine glass, which was invented first and gave the mineral its name, glitters uniformly all the way through.

How should I look after this crystal tree? +

Hard enough for daily use. Keep it out of long direct sun and away from harsh cleaners. This is a wire-and-adhesive piece: never rinse or soak it, because water works into the wraps and the base and loosens them, usually permanently. Dust it with a soft dry brush rather than a cloth, which snags on the wires, and always lift it by the base.

Does this crystal tree attract luck or opportunity? +

No. Green aventurine is traditionally associated with that, and the tradition is genuine and often very old, but there is no scientific evidence that any stone can attract luck or opportunity, or that it produces any physical or psychological effect.
