Selenite Bracelet Benefits: What a Reiki Grandmaster Says
Selenite is one of the few crystals that never needs external charging — it continuously purifies its own energy and everything around it. Wearing a selenite bracelet keeps your aura clean throughout the day, absorbing and neutralising negative energies before they reach your emotional state.
Key benefits of wearing a selenite crystal bracelet include: enhanced mental clarity and focus, calming of anxiety and emotional turbulence, spiritual protection throughout daily life, and improved sleep quality when worn in the evenings.
Selenite works best on the left wrist, close to the pulse point. It pairs beautifully with Amethyst for deeper calm, or Black Tourmaline for full-spectrum energy protection. At Calminds, every selenite bracelet is Reiki-activated by certified Grandmaster Sweeny Panjrath before dispatch, amplifying its natural cleansing properties from the moment you wear it.

Important Note
✨ Selenite is a naturally soft mineral. Handle with care and avoid exposure to water.
Variations in texture or finish are natural characteristics and indicate authenticity — not defects.
What this is, and what it isn't
The mineral. Selenite is a crystalline variety of gypsum — hydrated calcium sulphate, CaSO4·2H2O. At Mohs 2 it is one of the softest stones sold as jewellery: a fingernail can mark it. It is also slightly water-soluble, which is why it must never be washed, worn in the shower, or cleansed in water like quartz. Wipe it with a dry cloth and keep it away from humidity. This softness is the real reason selenite is described as "self-cleansing" in crystal practice — the tradition grew up around a stone that physically cannot be cleaned the usual way.
The tradition. In crystal practice selenite is associated with clarity, calm and clearing a space before meditation, and is one of the few stones said not to need charging. These associations come from tradition and spiritual practice. They are not measured properties of gypsum, and we would rather say so than let the language blur.
The evidence. There is no peer-reviewed scientific evidence that crystals absorb, neutralise or emit energy, or that they affect sleep, anxiety or mood. Where people find value it comes from the practice — the pause, the intention, the reminder on your wrist — rather than from the mineral. That is a real thing, and it is enough; it does not need overstating.
Please note. Nothing on this page is medical or psychological advice, and this bracelet is not a treatment for anxiety, insomnia or any other condition. If something is weighing on your health or your sleep, please talk to a qualified doctor. A crystal belongs alongside that care, never instead of it.
Frequently asked questions
Can a selenite bracelet get wet?
No. Selenite is gypsum (CaSO4·2H2O) and is slightly soluble in water, so it should never be washed, soaked, or worn in the shower, pool or sea. Repeated contact with water will dull the silky surface and, over time, actually dissolve the beads. Take it off before washing your hands, before a workout, and before applying lotion or perfume.
How do I clean my selenite bracelet if I can't use water?
Wipe it gently with a soft, dry cloth — a microfibre or lens cloth works well. Do not use soap, alcohol, ultrasonic cleaners or jewellery dips. If dust settles between the beads, a soft dry brush is enough. Store it in the box it arrived in, somewhere dry, away from a humid bathroom.
Will it scratch easily?
Yes, more easily than most stones. Selenite sits at Mohs 2 on the hardness scale, soft enough that a fingernail can leave a mark and a metal watch strap or a diamond ring will scratch it quickly. Wear it on its own wrist rather than stacked against harder stones or metal, and take it off before anything rough with your hands. Small surface marks over time are normal for this mineral, not a defect.
Which wrist should I wear it on?
In crystal practice the left wrist is the receiving side and the right the expressing side, so selenite is most often worn on the left. This is a tradition, not a rule, and there is no evidence one wrist works differently from the other. Practically, wear it on whichever wrist you knock about less — for most right-handed people that is the left.
Can selenite really charge or cleanse my other crystals?
Placing other crystals on a selenite plate or beside a selenite piece to "cleanse" them is a very common practice in the crystal community, and you will see it stated as fact almost everywhere. We would rather be straight with you: it is a tradition, not a demonstrated physical effect, and there is no evidence that gypsum changes anything about another stone. If it is a ritual you enjoy, enjoy it as a ritual.
Is satin spar the same thing as selenite?
Almost every white, silky, fibrous "selenite" bracelet on the market — including this style — is satin spar, the fibrous variety of the same gypsum mineral. Strictly speaking selenite is the transparent, tabular variety, and satin spar is the honest name for the silky white one. The trade uses the two names interchangeably, so we are telling you plainly what you are getting: gypsum, satin spar habit, Mohs 2, keep it dry.
