What this is, and what it isn't
The mineral. Citrine is quartz — silicon dioxide, SiO2 — at Mohs 7, hard and well suited to daily wear. The yellow-to-amber colour comes from trace iron in the crystal structure.
Something the trade rarely explains. Untreated citrine is genuinely uncommon in nature, and it is pale — a soft lemon or smoky honey. The deep orange-brown "citrine" that fills most of the market is amethyst or smoky quartz that has been heated, which converts the iron colour centres from purple to gold. Heating is a long-standing, accepted gemstone practice and the result is still real quartz, not glass or plastic — but it is a treatment, and you deserve to know it exists so you can ask about any citrine you are offered, ours included. As a rough guide: even, gentle, slightly smoky yellow usually points to untreated material, while a vivid orange with white-ish bases to the crystals usually points to heat treatment.
Care, and a correction to old advice. Citrine's colour is iron-based and light-sensitive: prolonged direct sunlight will fade it, and heat-treated material fades faster. The common instruction to "charge citrine in the sun" is one of the few pieces of crystal-care advice that actively damages the stone. Cleanse with moonlight, smoke, sound or a selenite plate instead.
The tradition. Citrine is the "Merchant's Stone", associated in crystal practice with prosperity, confidence and the Solar Plexus chakra. Those associations come from tradition and spiritual practice — not from a measured property of quartz — and the chakra system is a spiritual framework rather than a scientific one.
The evidence. There is no peer-reviewed scientific evidence that crystals produce physical or psychological effects, and no stone attracts money, customers or luck. Where people find value it comes from the practice: naming a goal clearly and keeping a visible reminder of it. That focus is worth something real — the stone is what holds it in front of you.
Please note. Nothing on this page is financial, medical or psychological advice, and this bracelet is not an investment, an income strategy or a treatment for any condition. Please never make a money decision on the basis of a crystal.
